Get to Know Our Insurers – Encompass

Encompass Insurance Company is a subsidiary of industry powerhouse Allstate. It came into being after Allstate purchased CNA, a personal-insurance company established in 1897. As a competitor in the private client insurance arena, Encompass is most well-known for its EncompassOne Policy, which gives consumers the opportunity to purchase one policy that includes multiple types of insurance: home, vehicles, collectibles and more.

The EncompassOne Policy is available in most states, although specific products, coverages and discounts vary. Depending on where you live, there are three tiers of protection you may be able to purchase, each with just one premium payment.

This is the company’s most robust insurance package, offering the highest coverage limits. Some of the features include:

  • Coverage for additional living expenses such as hotel and restaurant bills, with no time or dollar limit, for as long as it takes to repair your home if it is uninhabitable
  • Unlimited accident forgiveness, meaning you will not be charged a surcharge after one or more auto accidents
  • An option to pay off your full auto loan or lease if the vehicle is totaled, even if the auto has depreciated to the point where the value is less than the remaining amount owed
  • Boat and watercraft coverage that includes replacement cost, reimbursement for personal property and coverage for uninsured or underinsured boaters

Encompass’ second tier of protection is the Deluxe EncompassOne Policy. Among other features, it includes:

  • Enhanced replacement cost coverage, which applies if the cost to rebuild your home after a covered loss exceeds the original insured amount
  • Up to $5,000 to pay for your share of a special assessment made by an HOA for a covered loss to common property
  • Coverage for the loss of permanently installed electronics in your insured vehicle
  • Up to $5,000 in coverage for jewelry or furs that are lost or stolen, without a special rider

The third all-in-one insurance package offered by the company is the Special EncompassOne Policy. Although it is the most basic, is still offers plenty of desirable features and options, such as:

  • Additional living expenses with no dollar limit for up to one year if your home is uninhabitable and under repair
  • Up to $1,000 in reward money if your home is ever damaged or burglarized
  • The option to add roadside assistance, including towing and emergency transportation coverage
  • The option to add identity fraud coverage up to $20,000, which covers lost wages and attorney fees in addition to access to a fraud specialist

If you would prefer to separate your policies for any reason, the company also offers stand-alone policies in the following categories:

  • Homeowners insurance
  • Condo insurance
  • Renters insurance
  • Auto insurance
  • Personal umbrella protection
  • A lifestyle endorsement (This covers multiple specific situations, such as extending your personal property and liability coverages to a family member or friend for whom you provide live-in home care, which makes it as if they were a covered person under your home policy.)
  • Home business insurance
  • Motorcycle insurance
  • Recreational vehicle insurance
  • Boat and watercraft insurance
  • Identity theft protection
